Minimum Qualifying Marks for SSC CHSL Tier 1
The Commission has clearly defined the minimum qualifying marks required to clear Tier 1. However, meeting the minimum marks does not guarantee selection for Tier 2, as final shortlisting depends on cut-off scores.
| Category | Minimum Qualifying Marks |
|---|---|
| General (UR) | 30% |
| OBC / EWS | 25% |
| SC / ST / Others | 20% |
Therefore, candidates must not confuse qualifying marks with the official cut-off, which is usually higher depending on competition and vacancies.
Understanding the SSC Normalisation Process
Since the SSC CHSL 2025 Tier 1 exam was held in multiple shifts, question papers naturally varied in difficulty level. Some shifts may have been slightly easier, while others were comparatively challenging. Consequently, raw marks alone would not reflect a fair comparison among candidates.
To address this, SSC applies a scientific normalisation formula. This process adjusts scores based on the relative difficulty of each shift. Moreover, the final merit list is prepared after equalising marks according to pre-determined rules set by the Commission. As a result, candidates from tougher shifts are not placed at a disadvantage.
SSC CHSL 2025 Cut-Off for LDC and JSA Posts
The cut-off marks for Lower Division Clerk (LDC) and Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA) posts have been officially released. These cut-offs reflect the minimum score required for shortlisting to Tier 2.
| Category | Cut-Off Marks |
|---|---|
| General (UR) | 144.25858 |
| OBC | 143.83055 |
| EWS | 141.42492 |
| SC | 125.40250 |
| ST | 115.25399 |
Additionally, the narrow margin between General and OBC cut-offs highlights the intense competition this year.

SSC CHSL DEO Science Stream Cut-Off 2025
For candidates who applied for Data Entry Operator (DEO) posts in the Science stream, the cut-offs are significantly higher compared to LDC/JSA posts.
| Category | Cut-Off Marks |
|---|---|
| General (UR) | 169.54438 |
| OBC | 169.49507 |
| SC | 157.72055 |
| ST | 152.78518 |
Meanwhile, the high cut-off for the DEO Science stream indicates a competitive applicant pool and limited vacancies.
